About Us

Building Greener Cities, One Garden at a Time

Who We Are

Local Urban Farmers is a grassroots collective transforming rooftops, yards, and shared spaces into sustainable, edible gardens. Our mission is to reconnect people to the food they eat and the land it comes from—even in the heart of the city.

Founded in Loxford Lane Allotments, our journey began with a single raised bed and a lot of curiosity. Today, we run community plots, host workshops, and supply produce to local markets and homes every week.

Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned gardener, we welcome you to grow with us.

Our Mission

At Local Urban Farmers, we believe in the power of community and sustainability. Our mission is to:

Our History

Local Urban Farmers began as a small initiative in 2015, with a vision to transform underutilized urban spaces into thriving gardens. Starting with a single raised bed in Loxford Lane Allotments, we quickly grew into a community-driven movement. Over the years, we’ve partnered with schools, businesses, and local councils to create over 50 urban gardens across the city.

Our journey has been fueled by the passion of volunteers, the support of local organizations, and the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food. Today, we’re proud to be a leading voice in urban agriculture, inspiring others to join the movement for greener, more sustainable cities.
